Outstanding Service
Vi McQuern |
 |
|
This year’s
Outstanding Service Award recipient was a no brainer for the Board.
This lady began working the Irene Kearney Tournament, now the Women’s
Central Illinois, when it began at King Pin 1965. She worked with Irene
as the Head Scorekeeper until Carol Scott took the tournament over in
1980. At that time, our recipient moved up to helping in the tournament
office with checking bowlers in as well as helping with any other aspect
of the tournament. She now works with Jan and Jeanine, who I know are
very grateful.
This lady has also
been secretary of 3 different leagues in the City. The first is the
Summer – Les Smith League which she has been secretary for 15 years.
The second league is the All American League which she took over as
secretary upon the passing of Sharon Horrighs, one of our Hall of Fame
members. Her last league – the Saturday night 2 + 2 League, she has
been secretary for the past 26 years. Always doing her duty as a
secretary, she at first was not sure if she could be here tonight
because she was worried about who could collect the money and handle
things, but she has graciously trusted her husband to do that job for
her tonight so she could be here.
The 2008-2009
Outstanding Service Award goes to Vi McQuern. |
